LHU softball drops a pair of games at Shippensburg University today (March 27).

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (1-9, 1-9 PSAC East) was downed by Shippensburg University (7-9, 6-8 PSAC East) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play.

Shippensburg struck early in game one and fought their way to an 8-1 game-one win. In game two Lock Haven struck first, scoring two in the top of the first. The Raiders responded with nine unanswered until the seventh inning when Lock Haven plated another. The game ended with a 9-3 final, scoring victory for Shippensburg.

Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) kept her hitting streak alive going 1-for-3 in game one and scoring the only run of the contest for LHU after her double to center field was backed by Casey Carpenter (Spring Brook, Pa./North Pocono), who reached on an error by the Shippensburg shortstop.

In game two, it was Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) who carried the heavy bat. She recorded two RBIs, after going 2-for-3. Stefanie O'Grady (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) backed Lestician with a strong effort herself. She went 2-for-2. She also recorded a stolen base.
