SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (5-15, 5-15 PSAC East) fell to Shepherd University (16-9, 14-9 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division action.

LHU dropped the opener by a score of, 5-3. The Haven had their late comeback halted in game two but fell just short for a, 5-4, final.
Justin Lichtenwalner (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) turned in a fine day at the plate going 4-7 with one walk. The sophomore drove in two runs including a solo home run in game two.
Game 1: L, 5-3
After the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the second inning,
Isaac Porter (Beach Creek, Pa./Central Mountain(St. Bonaventure)) notched an RBI single in the third to tie the game at, 1-1. The Bald Eagles struck again in the fourth inning when
Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) scored on an error after leading off the inning with a double, one of his three hits on the day. Lichtenwalner walked later in the inning to drive in another run and tied the game at 3-3. The Rams plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held the 5-3 score line through to the final.
Game 2: L, 5-4
LHU and Shepherd traded runs in the first inning on a
Jake Mastillo (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) RBI single in the top of the inning. Shepherd responded with one run in their half of the first and three in the second and one more run in the third inning to build a 5-1 advantage. The Ram lead held until the sixth inning when
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./ William Tennent (Mercer CC)) lifted a solo homerun to left field and chipped into the Shepherd lead. LHU looked poised to comeback in the top of the seventh inning when Lichtenwalner got the comeback started with a solo shot of his own for his second RBI on the day.
Mike O'Halloran (Monmouth Beach, N.J./Shore Regional (Ocean CC)) doubled later in the inning to drive home Shannon and cut the Rams lead to a slender 5-4 advantage. Shepherd, however, tightened up and was able to retire the side and hang on for the win.
Devyn Fahnestock (Matamores, Pa./Deleware Valley) pitched well in relief as LHU attempted to comeback in the final innings. Fahnestock pitched two innings after the starter
David Keller (Oreland, Pa./Christopher Dock Mennonite) went four from the mound. The sophomore pitcher allowed just two hits and no runs while striking out one batter as he held the Rams at bay in the late innings.

The Bald Eagles travel to East Stroudsburg for the first two games of another weekend PSAC series on Friday. Those games are set for noon and 2:30 p.m. first pitches.
