EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (9-19, 9-19 PSAC E) fell on the road today against PSAC Eastern Division opponent East Stroudsburg (26-12, 17-11 PSAC E). The Warriors pulled away late in game one to take the contest and took game two behind strong pitching.
Game 1: L, 8-3
After an ESU run in the bottom of the first,
Sydney Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./ Highland Regional) wasted no time tying the game at one. Arrigale launched a solo home run to left center for her second blast of the year.
In the top of the fifth inning
Riley McClellan (Granvillesummit, Pa./ Troy) singled plating
Kinley Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./ Stroudsburg) and
Amanda Criss (Bel Air, Md./ Bel Air)
who previously reached on singles of their own to trim the Warrior lead to 4-3.
The 4-3 score line held until East Stroudsburg pulled away late to take control of game one.
Game 2: L, 4-0
East Stroudsburg jumped out to an early lead in game two scoring in the second and third innings. The 4-0 lead for ESU after three innings proved to be the final.
McClellan led off the game with her second hit of the day lacing a single up the middle. In the fifth inning McClellan stole base number 17 on the year in as many attempts to remain perfect on the season.
Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./ Lampeter-Strasburg) collected two hits for Lock Haven singling up the middle and to the left field.
