LHU Tennis back at it, opens 2020-21 season at Kutztown

For the first time since the fall of 2019, the LHU tennis team was in action as the Bald Eagles opened their highly anticipated 2020-21 season this afternoon at Kutztown in PSAC action.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University tennis team (0-1, 0-1 PSAC East) opened the 2020-21 season today (Tuesday, April 6) on the road at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action and fell despite positive showings from the Bald Eagles.

Kutztown (2-2, 2-2 PSAC East) came away with the win, 7-0.

Playing No. 1 doubles, Maddy Reeves (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and Natalie Brown (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) fell to Kutztown's Claudia Makarski and Catherine Maher 3-6 in a hard fought match.

Reeves continued to play well in her Lock Haven debut and in No.1 singles action. She took Makarski to a tie breaker in set two after dropping set one 4-6. Makarski would win 7-6 after the tie break.

In No. 2 doubles, 2019 stand-out Delani Wolever (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) and Saige Whipple (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) were narrowly edged out 4-6.

LHU will return to action on Friday, April 16 at 4 p.m. when the Bald Eagles travel to Millersville.
