CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (2-6) fell in two hard-fought battles today at the Clarion Invitational
In the day's opener vs. Northwood, LHU lost three straight sets (23-25, 22-25, 17-25) despite contending closely with the Timberwolves. The Bald Eagles battled contentiously scoring 23 and 22 in the first two sets respectively.
Lock Haven was even with Northwood at 14-14 in the third set, before the Timberwolves made a strong push to end the game.
Gabriela Fialova (Ledecnad Sazavou, Czech Republic/ (Indian River) led the offensive effort for Lock Haven.
Lock Haven closed the day and the tournament vs. host-Clarion. The two teams split the first two sets, but Lock Haven would fall in the next two to surrender a 3-1 match loss (12-25, 25-23, 14-25, 17-25).
Fialova paced LHU again against Clarion, recording 11 kills. Libero
Regan Happ (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Westminster Academy) added 20 digs to the Bald Eagles effort in Game 2.
The Bald Eagles opened play at the two-day Clarion Invitational tournament yesterday (Friday, Sept. 10) with a pair of matches. LHU opened the day with a 3-0 loss to perennial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and region contender Gannon. Lock Haven closed Day 1 with a straight set (3-0) win over Salem.
The Bald Eagles will return to action on Saturday, September 18 when they take part in a tri-match tournament at Frostburg State. LHU will play twice including a match vs. host-Frostburg State and Pitt-Johnstown.
