Lawyer, Women’s Basketball surge past Mansfield

The LHU women’s basketball team defeated Mansfield University, 73-56, on the road in PSAC action

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (6-6, 3-5 PSAC) defeated Mansfield University (4-7, 3-4 PSAC), 73-56, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play at Mansfield.
 
A slow start left Lock Haven trailing after the first quarter, 18-13. An LHU surge in the second put 20 points on the board and gave Lock Haven a slender one-point advantage at halftime. The Bald Eagles poured on the points in the second half and eventually earned the 73-56 win over the Mounties.
 
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) was outstanding in tonight's win. She posted 26 points on a strong 9-17 from the field. She dished out a team-high 5 assists and added one steal
 
Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) and Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) extended their respective double-double streaks. Robinson posted 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Parker managed 10 points and grabbed 11 boards. Robinson shot an efficient 7-11 from the field.
 
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was perfect from the free-throw line. She made all seven of her attempts and walked away from tonight's contest with nine points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
 
Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) collected ten rebounds of her own and dished out two assists to help keep the game a one-sided affair down the stretch.
 
The Bald Eagles shot a strong 42.9 percent from the field and a stifling defensive effort saw the Mounties shoot just 29.6 percent.

The Bald Eagles return home on Wednesday, January 12th to host Kutztown. That matchup is set to tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
