Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball cruises past East Stroudsburg, 65-51

Parker led three players in double figures for LHU with a double-double performance.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Forward Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) posted a 21-point, 15-rebound double-double to lead the way for the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-7, 4-6 PSAC) as the Bald Eagles went on the road and posted a 65-51 victory at East Stroudsburg University (1-12, 0-10 PSAC) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Wednesday night.

Lock Haven got the scoring started quickly off of a Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) trey as the Bald Eagles took an early 3-0 lead that they would never give up. Over the opening 10 minutes, LHU led by as many as seven points on multiple occasions before a Parker layup in the waning seconds of the quarter gave the Bald Eagles a 22-16 lead after a quarter of play.

In the second quarter, both teams traded scores throughout a balanced frame as the Bald Eagles owned a 31-25 lead at the intermission.

Out of the halftime break, Lock Haven took control of the game for good. Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) converted the front end of a pair of free throws to push the advantage to double figures at a 39-29 tally with 5:47 to play. Over the remaining five and change of the third quarter, the Crimson and White went on a 13-4 run to lead by 19 at a 52-33 score with 10 minutes remaining.

After surging to a 21-point lead late in the third quarter, the Bald Eagles held off an East Stroudsburg surge to ride away with the win. The host Warriors went on an 8-0 run over the first three minutes of the final frame to trim the Lock Haven lead to 11 before Fetsko ended the spurt with a layup.

East Stroudsburg was able to pull to within eight points with 3:20 to play, but the Bald Eagles again turned away the Warriors charge to secure the win. Back-to-back layups from Fetsko and Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) and a Lawyer three-pointer to extended the lead back to double figures. Lock Haven kept its double-digit lead down the stretch and earned a 65-51 victory.

Parker was efficient from the floor, posting 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting. The Lancaster, Pa. native led the Bald Eagles with a team-high 15 rebounds as Lock Haven owned the glass by a 46-28 margin.

Lawyer added 14 points and five assists in the win, while Fetsko rounded out a trio of Bald Eagles in double figures with 10 points.
