LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (6-10, 3-9 PSAC) fell to visiting Millersville University (14-4, 8-4 PSAC) by a 71-49 score on Monday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action in Thomas Fieldhouse.
Millersville jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before Lock Haven responded with a pair of
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) hook shots in the lane to knot the game up after three minutes of play.
Eli Washington (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) added a pull-up jumper to take a 6-4 lead with 16:25 to play in the first half.
After the early Lock Haven spurt, the Marauders built up a final a 28-15 margin midway through the half. Millersville scored the final six points of the first half to take a 34-15 advantage into the locker room.
Out of the halftime break, the teams traded scores before
Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) knocked down a trey to bring the Bald Eagles to within 16 at a 38-22 margin with 18:04 to play.
Millersville pulled away over the middle of the second half and led by as many as 23 points before the Bald Eagles made a surge midway through the second half.
DaQuan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) knocked down a three-pointer with 11:47 to play in the game, bridging the gap to 55-37. Montague later added a layup as Lock Haven cut the deficit to 15 at a 57-42 score with 9:13 remaining.
After the Lock Haven surge, Millersville responded and held the Bald Eagles off down the stretch to ride away with a 71-49 victory.
McPherson led the way for the Lock Haven with 13 points. The Philadelphia, Pa. native also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to post his second straight double-double.
