Football Drops PSAC East Clash to Visiting Millersville

The Bald Eagles hosted Millersville in Week 5 action and the visiting Marauders claimed victory in the PSAC Eastern Division clash.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven football team fell to visiting Millersville, 42-12, this afternoon (Saturday, Oct. 1) at Hubert Jack Stadium in Week-5 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

Millersville led 14-0 at halftime, but the Bald Eagles struck quick in the second half, scoring on the first possession of the third quarter. The early third-quarter touchdown put Lock Haven right back in the game as the hosts trailed the Marauders 14-6, but Millersville's strong running attack helped the visitors pull away down the stretch.

Lock Haven wide receivers Marquon Williams (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford (Minnesota State University-Mankato)) and Chase Holmes (Easton, Pa./Easton) led the way for the offensive unit. Both of Williams' catches were touchdown grabs and Holmes had six receptions for 111 yards.

Running back DeAndre Wakefield (Norristown, Pa./Souderton) carried the bulk of the load for the Bald Eagles' run game and quarterback Easton Turner (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge (Assumption)) threw for 209 yards and the two Lock Haven TDs.

Jaderian Johnson (Pensacola, Fla./Tate (North Dakota SCS)) led the Lock Haven defense with 11 tackles including eight solo stops. Kasir Henry (Philadelphia/School of the Future (Anna Maria)) finished with nine tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Rodney Acquah (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) and Austin Barber (Johnstown, Pa./Greater Johnstown) finished with eight tackles each, and Kyler Cunningham (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) made seven tackles.

Millersville ran for 257 yards on the day, which helped power the Marauders to the conference win. Marcus Pierce rushed for two of four Millersville scores on the ground and quarterback Robert Footman, Jr. threw for a pair of TDs.

The win was the first of the year for Millersville who moved to 1-4 overall (1-1 PSAC East). With the loss, The Haven fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in PSAC East play.

Lock Haven will return to action next Saturday (Oct. 8) when the Bald Eagles head to nationally-ranked Shepherd for a Week-6 PSAC East contest. Shepherd was ranked No. 4 this week in the weekly (Sept. 26) American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and the Rams topped Shippensburg on the road today in PSAC East play.
