LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven University (8-12, 5-11 PSAC) fell on Saturday afternoon to 24th-ranked Kutztown University (19-4, 12-2 PSAC) by a 60-46 margin in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's basketball action.
After seeing the Golden Bears run out to a 10-0 lead early in the game, the Bald Eagles clawed back to end the first quarter. Lock Haven finished the first quarter on a 14-7 run to trim the deficit to a single possession.
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) capped the run with five points off of a trey and a pair of free throws.
In the second, the Bald Eagles pulled to within one off of a
Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) jumper to bring the score to 20-19 in favor of Kutztown, but the Golden Bears scored six of the final seven points of the half to take a 26-20 lead into the locker room.
Out of the intermission, Kutztown again pushed its lead to eight points before a Lock Haven run trimmed the gap to a single point again.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) buried back-to-back three pointers and Parker converted a pair of free throws to bring the Golden Bears lead to 29-28 with 6:07 to play in the third frame.
Kutztown controlled the remainder of the third quarter and re-established a 46-28 lead. Lock Haven would eventually fall to No. 24 Kutztown by a 60-46 tally.
Parker led all scorers with a game-high 16 points, while Fitzmorris chipped in 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
