LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – On Senior Day, the Lock Haven University (11-10, 2-2 PSAC East) softball team dropped both halves of an afternoon doubleheader to the visiting West Chester University (15-15, 2-2 PSAC East) Golden Rams in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division twin bill at Lawrence Field.

Lock Haven dropped the opener by a 6-1 tally before falling in the nightcap by a 6-2 margin.

Prior to Sunday's doubleheader, Lock Haven honored its three seniors: Amanda Criss (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air), Mikayla Ruppert (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Madalyn Dydynski (Nichols, N.Y./Tioga Central).

Game 1: L, 6-1

After a pair of scoreless frames in the opener, Lock Haven took the lead with a single run in the home half of the third inning. Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) opened the inning with a single up the middle and later swiped second to move into scoring position. Following a line out and a groundout, McClellan was pushed across the plate on a Sydney Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) infield single to put LHU out in front by a 1-0 score.

Lock Haven pitcher Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) struck out the West Chester side in the fourth but the Bald Eagles couldn't hold the Golden Rams off the scoreboard in the fifth as the visitors took a 3-1 lead into the back half of the contest.

West Chester kept the Bald Eagles off the scoreboard over the final three innings and added a trio of insurance runs to pull away to a 6-1 victory in game one.

Seven different Lock Haven batters recorded a hit in the opener to lead the Lock Haven offense.

Waltman was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits, while fanning seven West Chester batters.

Game 2: L, 6-2

Lock Haven wasted little time in getting on the board in the nightcap.

After putting the Golden Rams down in order in the top of the first inning, McClellan was hit by pitch and stolen second base to put an early baserunner in scoring position in the home half of the first. In a repeat performance from game one, Arrigale belted an infield single and McClellan scored on the play to put the Bald Eagles out in front by a 1-0 tally.

West Chester scraped a run across in the third inning to tie the contest up at a 1-1 score.

In the fifth, the Golden Rams took the lead with a four-run inning before adding a run in the seventh to put the Bald Eagles behind by a 6-1 tally with three outs remaining.

Morgan Karasek (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) legged out an infield single with two outs in the seventh and was pushed home on a McClellan double to the gap in left center to cut the deficit to 6-2 but one run was all the Bald Eagles could muster as they fell by a 6-2 tally in game two.

Karasek went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run to lead the LHU offense.

Kinley Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits over five complete innings of work.

Lock Haven and Kutztown will now meet tomorrow (Monday, April 11) at LHU. Game 1 will start at 1 p.m. and the PSAC East DH will serve as Lock Haven's annual "Knock MS Out of the Park" Day.

Additionally, Lock Haven will now travel to IUP Tuesday (April 12).
