LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (0-5) fell to D'Youville College (3-3), 3-0, (25-17, 25-12 & 26-24) in the opening day of the Bald Eagle Classic on Friday evening in the Thomas Fieldhouse.
In the opening set, the Saints jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Bald Eagles chipped away and eventually gained the lead at 15-14. D'Youville, however closed the set strong and claimed the 25-17 win. D'Youville claimed the second set behind a .63 hitting percentage for a 25-12 win.
The Bald Eagles started strong in the third and final set, but a late surge by the Saints saw them bring home the 26-24 lead to close out the opening day of the tournament.
Offensively,
Gabriela Fialova (Ledec nad Sazavou, Czech Republic/ (Indian River)) and
Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led the way for The Haven. Fialova notched a team-high 10 kills followed by Rembold's eight. Rembold added two service aces to her night while Fialova chipped in 13 digs.
Madison Eckley (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) posted a game-high 15 digs on the defensive side for LHU.
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) registered a game-high 4 service aces to add to her 28 assists.
