Miller’s Win, PSAC Marks Highlight Day for Men’s Track & Field

Ryan Miller ran to victory at 400 meters and the Lock Haven men’s indoor track & field team hit a number of PSAC marks today at Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN, OhioRyan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) ran to victory at 400 meters and his winning ways highlighted a strong performance by the Lock Haven University men's indoor track and field team at the YSU Collegiate Invitational, hosted today (Friday, Jan. 20) by Youngstown State.
 
The meet featured nearly 2,000 competitors from over 25 collegiate teams and Miller was one of several Bald Eagles who recorded an individual Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying mark.
 
Miller won the 400 with an impressive early indoor-season time of 49.26. He topped the Division I heavy field in an event that featured nearly 70 total entries. As of press time, it was the top 400-meter mark in the PSAC this season.
 
At 800 meters, Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) finished seventh of 63 with a PSAC time of 1:58.09. Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney) ran well in the 800 and finished 14th with a time of 1:59.24.
 
Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) hit PSAC championship qualifying marks in the 60-meter hurdles. Kravetz ran 8.74 and Reinard ran 8.76 as the two finished seventh and 14th, respectively in the prelims.
 
Kevin Taylor (Bellefonte, Pa./Erie County Home Schoolers) led the way for Lock Haven in the field events as he placed fifth of nearly 20 in the pole vault with a mark of 13-01.5.
 
In the men's mile, Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) narrowly missed a PSAC mark with an impressive run of 4:28.90. He was 29th of 76. Mason Ochs (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview) opened the day by leading the Bald Eagles in the 5,000-meter run. He was just short of a PSAC mark, but finished 14th of 34 runners with a time of 15:53.24.
 
UP NEXT:
Lock Haven will be busy again next weekend as the Bald Eagles are set to compete at two different meets on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28. Several Bald Eagles will be in action at the Penn State National Open (Jan. 27-28), and LHU will also send a number of student-athletes to the Bucknell Bison Open and Multi meet (Jan. 27-28).
