MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Behind two goals from
Brooke Hofsass (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and a clean sheet by
Kelsey Felix (Hallam, Pa./Eastern York), the Lock Haven field hockey team ended its weekend trip in Maryland Heights, Missouri in style, downing Lindenwood University 3-0 in a non-conference contest on Saturday (Oct. 21).
Hofsaas, who scored in both games in Missouri this weekend, found the back of the cage twice to improve her team-high in goals to eight.
Felix picked up her fifth victory in cage this season and her first solo clean sheet.
Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget) rounded out the scoring for Lock Haven, finding the back of the cage for the second time this season.
Elien Bos (Eelde, Netherlands/CSG Augustinus College) recorded both assists for the Bald Eagles, while also finishing second on the team with four shots. Bos now has three assists this season.
After a scoreless first half, the Bald Eagles broke through in the third minute of the third period when Spangenberg beat the keeper, making it 1-0.
Hofsass extended the Bald Eagles' lead to 2-0 nine minutes later, coming off the first assist of the game from Bos.
The duo connected again in the fifth minute of the final period to extend Lock Haven's lead to 3-0 and ultimately put the game out of reach.
The Bald Eagles led the contest in shots (20-12), shot on goal (16-5) and corners (10-6).
