EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock haven women's soccer team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division road match, 8-2, at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday night (Oct. 25).
In the first half, the Bald Eagles (3-12-2, 2-11-2 PSAC East) built two one-score leads through 14 minutes of action, but ESU (10-2-3, 8-2-3 PSAC East) closed out the half with three unanswered goals to lead 4-2 at the break.
Evelyn Ciaccia (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) put The Haven on the board in just the sixth minute, connecting on a header off a beautiful cross from
Trinity Seaman (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona).
ESU responded with the equalizer two minutes later, but
Avery Landrum (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) put the Bald Eagles back on top with her third goal of the season off a helper from Ciaccia. The assist was Ciaccia's third point of the game.
However, East Stroudsburg erupted on a 3-0 run over the ensuing 13 minutes to make it 4-2 at the half.
The Warriors carried that momentum into the second half and equaled their production with four more goals to road out the scoring.
In net for The Haven, goalkeeper
Megan Miller (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished with nine saves.
Ciaccia scored her team-leading eighth goal on the year, while improving her team-leading point total to 18 with the score and assist.
