LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven field hockey team (4-7, 2-2 A-10) returned to action today (Sunday, Oct. 8) at home and the Bald Eagles picked up an important, 2-1, win over Davidson (5-9, 0-4 A-10) in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action at Charlotte Smith Field.
Deana Campbell (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Alyssa Endrick (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored for the Bald Eagles, and goalkeeper
Kelsey Felix (Hallam, Pa./Eastern York) was fantastic throughout, but she sealed the win with several sensational saves in the final stages of the contest.
Felix finished with six saves.
Preseason All-Conference selection
Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget) turned in an outstanding game and
Anna May Barbusca (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) also turned in a notable individual effort. Defensively,
Florance de Kroon (Driebergen-Rijsenburg, Netherlands/Jordan Montessori Lyceum Utrecht) led the way as Lock Haven edged out Davidson for the crucial late-season conference win.
Lock Haven took the 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the match on the Campbell strike. The goal came off a long and speedy run through the defense by Spangenberg, who was credited with the assist.
Early in the second quarter, Davidson drew even at 1-1.
Endrick found the back of the cage late in the third quarter when she knocked home a rebound. It proved to be the eventual game-winner.
