Volleyball drops match at home to Shippensburg

The Bald Eagles hosted PSAC East second-place Shippensburg University at Thomas Fieldhouse on Friday night.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven volleyball team (10-10, 4-7 PSAC East) fell at home to Shippensburg University (19-8, 10-1 PSAC East), 2-1 (17-25, 27-25, 15-25, 21-25), in a hard-fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest on Friday night (Nov. 3).

With the loss, Lock Haven remains in a battle for the fourth and final PSAC East postseason spot with Bloomsburg. The Huskies fell to Shepherd tonight, keeping the two schools deadlocked with a 4-7 conference record.

Shippensburg, who clinched the second seed with a 10-1 record, is still vying for the top spot, sitting one game behind East Stroudsburg (11-0).

After falling 25-17 in the opening set, the Bald Eagles rallied to steal the second set 27-25 in extra play. The Bald Eagles totaled 11 kills during the rally, while limiting the Shippensburg attack to a 0.03 hit percentage.

However, the Raiders bounced back with a 25-15 victory in set three before closing out the match by taking the fourth set, 25-21.

Sabrina Valentin (Ovideo, Fla./Paul J. Hagerty) (11), Reagan Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) (eight) and Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) (six) led the Bald Eagles' offense in kills, while Rembold led the defense with an impressive five blocks.
