GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Lock Haven baseball team (1-1) headed out on the road to start the new year, where they faced Glenville State College (1-1) in a non-conference doubleheader series on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1: L, 3-1
The bottom of the first saw the Pioneers grab the first run, smacking a solo homerun to grab the early 1-0 lead.
Camden Moors (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont) inked his name in the stats with the first run scored for the Bald Eagles, delivering his own solo home run in the top of the fourth to even it out, 1-1.
Glenville State finished off the scoring with two more solo home runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning to start off the year with a 3-1 victory.
David Keller (Oreland, Pa/Christopher Dock Mennonite) returned to the mound in good fashion, pitching four innings, striking out seven while only giving up two runs.
Game 2: W, 7-1
In game two, the offense woke up for the Bald Eagles. Gavin Troutman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) took the first at-bat yard and sent his first career home run over the wall to give LHU the early 1-0 lead. Moors and Zach Kaatz (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) increased the Lock Haven lead in the top of the second to 3-0, after a Moors RBI single and a Kaatz RBI double.
The bottom of the sixth saw the Pioneers try to inch closer after a solo homerun closed the gap to 3-1.
LHU slammed on the gas pedal, sending in four more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach at 7-1. After Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) reached on an error, a two RBI single for Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)), and an RBI single for Garrett Nepert (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)) the Bald Eagles were up 7-1 and silenced the Pioneers for the victory.
On the mound, Kevin Worek (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) started the season strong, pitching four innings and striking out six while giving up just one hit. Aedan Walter (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) allowed just two hits and one run, while striking out five.

Lock Haven hits the diamond again next weekend (Feb. 17-18) with a three-game road trip to Washington, Pa. The Bald Eagles will face off against Lake Erie and the hosts California (Pa.) on Friday before capping the weekend against Wheeling on Saturday.
