UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's indoor track and field team was in action today (Friday, Feb. 17) at the Penn State Tune Up as the Bald Eagles wrap up the regular season this weekend.
Lock Haven performed well in a number of areas including the 60-meter hurdles and mile.
Leading the way for the Bald Eagles was
Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) who posted an individual victory in the 60-meter hurdles. He ran 8.41 and qualified first in the prelims, before besting the finals' field with a time of 8.46. His prelim time of 8.41 was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying mark, a collegiate-best and the all-time fifth-fastest time in LHU history.
Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a PSAC time of 8.78. He ran 8.84 in the prelims.
A Bald Eagle trio stood out in the mile.
Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) led the way with a time of 4:20.57 as he finished 10
th of 26.
Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and
Tanner Walter (New Columbia, Pa./Milton) ran 4:21.62 and 4:22.93, respectively, as Stewart, Gavitt, and Walter all ran well under the PSAC championship standard.
Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) ran a season-best 22.25 in the 200-meter dash and finished third of 23 finishers.
Jimmy Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) finished seventh in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.16. He ran a collegiate-best 7.11 in the prelims.
Kylie Scott-Harper (Chester, Pa./Chester) and
Brennan Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) finished 5-6 in the 400-meter dash with times of 51.01 and 51.04, respectively.
Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney) ran a PSAC time in the 800 (1:57.36).
Jumper
Michael Lawrence (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) led the way in the field events. He was third in the long jump with a leap of 20-11.75.
The Bald Eagles will close out the 2022-23 regular season tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 18) at the SU Tune Up, hosted by Susquehanna. Following tomorrow's action, Lock Haven will turn its focus to the postseason and the 2022-23 PSAC Indoor Championship meet, scheduled for February 25-26.
