WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's basketball team (10-15, 8-12 PSAC) fell on the road today against West Chester University (19-7, 16-4 PSAC), 52-46, in an important late-season Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.
In a contest that proved well-worth the price of admission, neither side led by more than six points in a crucial PSAC matchup with postseason implications.
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led all scorers and paced the Bald Eagles with 15 points on the day. Lawyers knocked in three from beyond the arc, and also added a team-high six rebounds.
The Haven got off to a strong start in the opening half, and led 21-17 at the break after a stifling defensive second quarter, which saw the two teams combine for just 12 points.
The Golden Rams responded out of the halftime break, and grabbed the lead quickly at 41-39 halfway through the third quarter. WCU led by as much as six down the stretch and was able to fend off the Bald Eagle advances and bring home the 52-46 win.
In double figures,
Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) joined Lawyer with ten points of her own.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) chipped in nine points to go with three assists.
