Women’s Basketball Tops ESU, Clinches Spot in Postseason

The LHU women’s basketball team topped ESU at home tonight, and with the win, the Bald Eagles clinched their spot in the 2022-23 PSAC postseason tournament.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Olivia Smith (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley (Frostburg State)) scored a team-high 10 points off the bench and Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds as the two powered the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (11-15, 9-12 PSAC) to an important, 49-44, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory at home tonight over East Stroudsburg University (15-13, 11-11 PSAC).

With the win, Lock Haven clinched a spot in the postseason and will play in next week's PSAC Tournament.

Smith knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on the way to her 10-point night, and Fetsko added five points to go along with her big night on the boards.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) played well in all areas and finished with nine points, five rebounds, four steals, two blocks, and two assists.

Jenadia Jordan (Lititz, Pa./Linden Hall) added nine points and six rebounds, and Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) scored eight points to go along with five rebounds. Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) rounded out Lock Haven's solid individual efforts with seven rebounds and five points.

It was a strong fourth quarter and clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes that helped seal the crucial victory for the Bald Eagles.
