SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (0-2) fell to Shepherd University (2-2), 12-7, this afternoon (Wednesday, March 1) on the road.
The Bald Eagles got goals from six different players including
Casey Hibbard (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central), who scored twice.
Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley),
Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville),
Emma Schiemer (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown),
Abby Hampson (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora), and
Gabby Gunnip (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) each netted a goal for LHU.
Katrinak added an assist and Shaffer finished with five draw controls.
Gracie Chaires (Darlington, Md./Harford Technical) played well for Lock Haven and she finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Haven goalkeeper
Dana Mirigliano (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) made seven saves.
Lock Haven trailed 9-3 at halftime, and the Bald Eagles rallied for a pair of goals in the third and fourth quarter, but the host Rams were able to hang on for the victory.

After two road games to start the 2023 season, the Bald Eagles will now set their attention to the team's home-opener which is scheduled for Sunday, March 5 vs. non-conference opponent D'Youville (Buffalo, N.Y.) at noon on Charlotte Smith Field.
