LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Playing at home for the first time this season, the Lock Haven University lacrosse team (1-2) picked up its first victory of 2023 with a dominating 16-6 non-conference win over D'Youville College (1-4).

The offense was clicking to the tune of eight goals in each half, and the Bald Eagles also got a strong defensive effort as the total-team output powered The Haven to victory on Charlotte E. Smith Field.

Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) fueled the attack with six goals. She was brilliant throughout and finished with one assist, four ground balls, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers to go along with her high-scoring performance.
Emma Williams (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) scored four goals and dished out two assists, and
Gabby Gunnip (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) recorded a hat trick to go along with one assist.Â
Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville),
Abby Hampson (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora), and
Nadia Baskot (Damascus, Md./Damascus) each scored once in the win.

Gracie Chaires (Darlington, Md./Harford Technical) recorded three ground balls and provided great defensive pressure with three credited caused turnovers.
Mackenna Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) came up huge on the draw and finished with six of Lock Haven's 17 draw controls as it proved to a huge difference maker in the win.

Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, March 11 at Kutztown. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover is set for a 1 p.m. start.

Following next Saturday's game in Kutztown, the Bald Eagles will officially open PSAC West play on Wednesday, March 15 at home versus Mercyhurst (1 p.m.).
