MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (9-11, 3-7 PSAC East) opened a three-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series on the road today (Fri., March 31) with No. 11 Millersville University (23-4, 7-0 PSAC East). The Marauders defended their home turf, winning the series' opening game, 7-2.Â
Millersville scored seven runs on their eight hits as the Bald Eagles smacked seven hits, but only created two runs. The hosts inked three on the scoreboard in the first inning and remained in control the rest of the way.Â
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) posted the first run for LHU in the top of the third with a single that scored Andrew Ramirez (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg). Â
After another run by the Marauders to make the score 4-1, Brendan Jordan (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Bucks County CC)) drove Zach Kaatz (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) in with an RBI-single to score the other run for Lock Haven. Â
Jordan led all batters with three hits on the afternoon. Francisco Taveras (Muhlenberg, Pa./Muhlenberg (Lehigh Carbon CC)) recorded a two-hit game for the Bald Eagles. Â
Pitcher Aedan Walter (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) struck out six and scattered just six hits over six innings of the scheduled nine-inning game. Â
The final innings saw nationally-ranked Millersville grab their last three runs to come away with a 7-2 victory to open the series.Â
