WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Lock Haven University men's outdoor track and field team turned in another impressive effort as the Bald Eagles recorded a number of notable marks this weekend as they competed at the three-day Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary.
For LHU men's team, action got underway Thursday (March 30) and the Bald Eagles dominated the hammer throw.
Nathan Govern (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) won the hammer throw with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying throw of 147-11.
Nathan Fetchkan (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) and
Colton Myers (Boiling Springs, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished second and sixth in the hammer with marks of 142-11 and 117-08, respectively.
The action continued yesterday (Fri., March 31) and the Bald Eagles stood out individually.
Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) had another big day for Lock Haven. He was sixth overall in the 400-meter dash with an impressive PSAC time of 48.26. He also ran a season-best (PSAC mark) in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.24.
Kylie Scott-Harper (Chester, Pa./Chester) ran well at 400 meters (50.63).
Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished 11
th in the 400-meter hurdles with a PSAC time of 56.84.
Michael Lawrence (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) sprinted to a PSAC time of 11.10 in the 100-meter dash.
Cade McLaughlin (Wyomissing, Pa./Berks Catholic) and
Tanner Walter (New Columbia, Pa./Milton) ran PSAC marks of 9:54.13 and 9:58.46, respectively in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) hit a PSAC mark in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:59.59.
The Bald Eagles capped the three-day meet today (Sat., April 1) and the standout performances continued.
Chris Hine (Plains, Pa./Holy Redeemer) hit a PSAC mark in the 10,000-meter event with a run of 33:28.81.
Reinard ran 15.97, a PSAC mark, in the 110-meter hurdles today. Fetchkan placed fourth in today's shot put with a mark of 43-02.25.
The Bald Eagles also turned in some strong relay efforts today.
The Haven men ran the second-fastest time in school history in the sprint medley relay. Lawrence, Scott-Harper, Miller and Gavitt ran 3:30.28 and placed fourth overall in the event.
Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney),
Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport), McLaughlin and
Vincent Fennell (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) ran 16:42.58, the fourth-fastest time in school history for the 4x1,500-meter relay event.
The Bald Eagles capped the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:18.65).
