LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (15-15) opened the weekend with an 8-4 victory over D'Youville (14-16) today at home on Watkins Field in non-conference action.
The Bald Eagles have now won three straight and six of their last eight games to get back to .500 on the season at 15-15 overall.
Lock Haven took a 4-0 lead after the first inning today and never looked back. In all, the Bald Eagles scored eight runs on 13 hits.
Garrett Nepert's (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)) two-RBI double in the first inning powered the Bald Eagles strong start.
Pitcher
Kevin Worek (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) got the win after a solid start. He struck out seven over eight-plus innings.
Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) struck out one and recorded the save as D'Youville looked to rally late.
Gavin Troutman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) had three hits, and both
Francisco Taveras (Muhlenberg, Pa./Muhlenberg (Lehigh Carbon CC)) and
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)) had two-hit games.
Schedule Note:
Lock Haven and D'Youville were scheduled to play a doubleheader today, but inclement weather caused a lengthy delay so the decision was made to start the weekend series with a single, nine-inning game this afternoon.

The Bald Eagles and D'Youville will cap the non-conference weekend series tomorrow (Sunday, April 16) with a doubleheader. Sunday's game one is set for a 1 p.m. start. The two games tomorrow will each be scheduled seven-inning games.
