MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven softball team (22-20, 12-14 PSAC East) surged late in both games of an important late-season Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader, and the Bald Eagles swept host Millersville University (23-23, 10-14 PSAC East).
Lock Haven won game one 6-4 and the Bald Eagles completed the sweep on the road with a 7-4 victory in game two.
With the two wins in hand, The Haven pushed above .500 at 22-20 overall. Lock Haven is now 12-14 in PSAC East play as the stretch run is on.
Game 1 Recap: Lock Haven 6 – Millersville 4
Lock Haven broke open the tied game when the Bald Eagles rallied up two runs in the top of seventh.
Summer Peters' (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) double up the middle drove in
Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) to make it 5-4, and
Rianna Trexler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) followed it up with a single that brought home Peters for the 6-4 lead.
The late-game - timely hitting from the Bald Eagles powered Lock Haven into the lead, and ultimately to victory.
Pitcher
Kinley Gioglio's (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) recent dominance continued as well. She entered in the seventh and threw a 1-2-3 inning to earn the save.
Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) got the start in the circle and battled her way to the win. Waltman struck out two and walked one over six innings.
Lock Haven trailed 3-0 after the first inning, but the Bald Eagles scored four runs in the top of the third, and soared into the lead. Host Millersville tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth.
Good finished game one with two hits and two runs scored. Peters was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Peters had a double and a triple in the game-one win. Trexler was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Game 2 Recap: Lock Haven 7 – Millersville 4
Over four and 1/3 innings, pitcher
Jada Schellhammer (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) limited Millersville to just two hits and the Bald Eagle bats erupted just when they were needed to carry Lock Haven to a game-two win, and the important PSAC East sweep.
With Lock Haven leading 2-0 after the top half of the fifth inning, host-Millersville responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the fifth, and the Marauders led 3-2.
The late-game offense showed up again for The Haven and the Bald Eagles scored five runs in the top of the sixth on the way to the 7-4 victory.
Overall, Lock Haven scored seven runs on 12 hits. Of those 12 hits, the Bald Eagles had three doubles and a triple in game two.

Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) had two hits and drove in three runs, and
Maci Brodzina (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) had a two-hit game in the game-two win.
Today's winning ways also helped push several Bald Eagles closer to single-season and career milestones.
Good now has a remarkable 71 hits on the season, the second-most in school history for a single season. The school record is 75 hits in a single-season. She also has 52 runs scored on the year, the second-most ever in a single-season. The school record for run scored in a single-season is 59.
Peters now has 15 doubles on the season, one away from tying the single-season school record. She has 31 doubles in her career, two away from cracking the career top-10.
Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) stole two bases in game two today and now has 73 career stolen bases, the third-most ever.

Sunday, April 23 when they travel to Shepherd University for a PSAC East doubleheader. Game one Sunday is set for a noon start.
