EDINBORO, Pa. – Playing on the road for the final time during the regular season, the Lock Haven lacrosse team (6-10, 4-7 PSAC West) used a second-half surge to cruise by host-Edinboro (2-13, 0-10 PSAC West), 25-8, today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
The Bald Eagles led 11-7 at halftime, but pulled away in the second half after an eight-goal third quarter. Lock Haven blanked the Fighting Scotts, 6-0 in the fourth quarter.
Lock Haven has now won two of its last three games.
The Bald Eagles got goals from nine different players including
Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville) who scored a game-high six.
Haven goalkeeper
Dana Mirigliano (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) played 38-plus minutes on the way to the win. She entered today's game with 124 saves on the season, the eighth-most ever recorded in a single-season.
Sydney Schramm (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) made four saves in the final 21-plus minutes of the game.
Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) scored five goals,
Gabby Gunnip (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) netted four and
Emma Schiemer (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) recorded a hat trick. Both
Brynlee Pinschenat (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and
Nadia Baskot (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored twice.
Mackenna Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute),
Brianna Cook (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) and
Elizabeth Newman (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) all tallied goals in the win.
Katrinak had a seven-point game as she added one assist. Baskot and Gunnip each recorded two assists to help spark the Bald Eagles' explosive attack.
Newman powered the defense with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. In all, The Haven was credited with 11 caused-turnovers in a solid all-around defensive effort that held the hosts to just 15 total shots including five the second half.
Baskot grabbed six draw controls and Shaffer recorded five as Lock Haven held an important edge in that category.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Saturday, April 29 at home vs. IUP. The final regular season game will serve as Lock Haven's 2023 Senior Day. Today was Lock Haven's first road-win of the season as five of the team's six wins this season have come at home on the friendly confines of Charlotte Smith Field.
