KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women's golf team wrapped up a successful spring by competing at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.

The tournament opened Friday at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and throughout the first two days of play, golfers battled unseasonably cold temperatures, rain, wind and a tough championship setup on the links (Par 72; 5,856 yards).

The weather forced a schedule change, and today's (Sun.) third and final round was canceled.

Skylar Smith (Lawrenceville, Pa./Williamson), Aaliyah Matylewicz (Greenfield Township, Pa./Lakeland), Audrey Weigl (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Kyleigh Monahan (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) represented Lock Haven at the championship.

Smith, Matylewicz and Weigl finished 45^th, 46^th and 47^th, respectively in the 56-member championship-field.

Smith shot 94 on day one Friday in brutal conditions and she followed it up with a score of 100 Saturday.

Matylewicz shot 103 on day one, but improved Saturday with a 98. Weigl shot back-to-back 101's. Monahan bettered her scored by 13 shots from round one to round two.

For Lock Haven, the spring portion of the 2022-23 schedule opened back up on April 4 in thrilling fashion as the Bald Eagles recorded their first dual win in school history. Smith's 92 at Clinton Country Club helped power The Haven to victory. Days later, Smith was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week, marking another historic moment in the young Lock Haven women's golf program's history.

This marked Lock Haven's third appearance at the PSAC Championships since the program started.

It was only on August 6, 2018 that Lock Haven announced its plans to add women's golf as a varsity sport, a sport never sponsored at The Haven. Chad Anthony was named head coach in March 2020, and in April 2021, the Bald Eagles took part in the PSAC Championships, marking the program's first ever competition.
