LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Starting pitcher
Aedan Walter (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) struck out seven and he got early run support as the Lock Haven University baseball team (11-14, 4-9 PSAC East) downed visiting Shippensburg University (18-16, 6-7 PSAC East), 6-2, in the opener of an important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series.
Walter got the nod and worked the first seven innings. Over seven innings, he scattered four hits, walked four and struck out the seven Shippensburg batters. Walter allowed just one run.
In all, two Lock Haven pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts today in the scheduled nine-inning game.
Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) struck out three over the final two innings.
The Bald Eagle bats got going quickly today and scored four in the bottom of the first. LHU added a run in the second and one more in the fourth.
Blaise Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) sparked the offense with a four-hit game. He was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Joe Shannon (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent (Mercer CC)) turned in a three-hit game, and both
Francisco Taveras (Muhlenberg, Pa./Muhlenberg (Lehigh Carbon CC)) and
Justin Lichtenwalner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) had two hits each.
Zeiders jump started the big first inning with a two-RBI single and Lock Haven rolled from there.

The Bald Eagles and Shippensburg will do it again tomorrow (Saturday, April 8) as they cap the three-game PSAC East series at Shippensburg with a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start Saturday.
