Men’s Track & Field Dominates at Susquehanna

Bald Eagles put on a show, dominate the field at Saturday’s Susquehanna Invitational.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's outdoor track and field team put on a show Saturday as the Bald Eagles dominated the field at the Susquehanna Easter Invitational.
 
LHU posted a win in the 4x100-meter relay (43.00) and Lock Haven was second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.13).
 
It didn't end there as a long list of notable individual efforts headlined the meet. The Haven men recorded a number of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifying marks as well.
 
Justice Shoats (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) posted a big day for Lock Haven. He won the long jump with a PSAC mark of 22-00.25 and he was second in the high jump with a PSAC leap of 6-06.75. Shoats added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40.
 
Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) posted victory in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:04.49. Tanner Walter (New Columbia, Pa./Milton) was third in 4:08.20.
 
Michael Lawrence (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added a win in the triple jump and Keegan Gwinn (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) posted victory in the javelin throw.
 
Lawrence won the triple jump with a mark of 42-09.00, a PSAC mark. Gwinn threw 168-05 for the win in the javelin.
 
Lock Haven opened the day with a dominating effort in the 400-meter hurdles. The Bald Eagles finished second, third, fourth and ninth. Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was second with a PSAC time of 57.55 and Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was third with a PSAC time of 57.60. Aydan Summers (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was fourth with a time of 58.36 and Jacob Watson (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) was ninth.
 
Kravetz and Reinard finished third and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with times of 16.01 (PSAC) and 16.36, respectively.
 
In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Evan Klinger (Riverside, Pa./Danville) ran to a big personal-best and PSAC time of 10:04.58. He was second overall and Kohen Stover (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) finished third in the event.
 
Kylie Scott-Harper (Chester, Pa./Chester) ran 50.48 and finished third in the 400-meter dash.
 
The Bald Eagles showed their depth at 800 meters. Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney) was second in 1:55.74 and Furey was third with a run of 1:57.21. Both Wehrle and Furey hit PSAC times. Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) ran 1:58.87 and was fourth. Walter and Vincent Fennell (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
 
The Bald Eagles showed extremely well in the hammer throw as Nathan Govern (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Nathan Fetchkan (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) and Colton Myers (Boiling Springs, Pa./Cumberland Valley) all hit big personal-best throws. Govern was second overall with a PSAC throw of 149-03.00. Fetchkan narrowly missed the PSAC mark, but finished fourth (144-00.00), and Myers was fifth (131-02.00).
 
In the shot put, Fetchkan finished fourth (38-06.00).
 
Kevin Taylor (Bellefonte, Pa./Erie County Home Schoolers) was second in the pole vault with a PSAC mark of 13-09.25.
 
Lawrence was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.32, a PSAC mark. Scott-Harper was fourth (23.08), Brennan Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was fifth (23.15) and Summers was sixth (23.47).
 
Lawrence rounded out his strong day with a fourth-place finish in the long jump (20-02.5). Chase Young (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) was fourth in the triple jump (39-10.5)

The Bald Eagles will return to action next weekend at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.
