ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-8, 2-5 PSAC West) fell to Mercyhurst (5-6, 3-4 PSAC West), 14-11, today on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
The two teams combined for 25 goals on 56 total shots, but in the end the host Lakers held off Lock Haven for the important PSAC West victory. Mercyhurst led 4-3 after the first quarter and the two teams were tied 8-8 at halftime, but the Lakers used six second-half goals to pull away.
Gabby Gunnip (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) led the way on offense with three goals.
Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley),
Kaitlyn Collins (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) and
Nadia Baskot (Damascus, Md./Damascus) all scored twice for The Haven.
Mackenna Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) and
Emma Williams (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) both added goals.
Williams also dished out two assists and Collins had one helper.

Dana Mirigliano (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) finished with nine saves and six ground balls.
Shaffer added four draw controls, three ground balls and one caused turnover.
Gracie Chaires (Darlington, Md./Harford Technical) had three draw controls for Lock Haven.

The Bald Eagles will return to action at home on Wednesday, April 12 at 4 p.m. when they host Slippery Rock in PSAC West action. Lock Haven is 4-1 at home this season on Charlotte Smith Field.
