LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's outdoor track and field team closed the 2023 regular season today at home as the Bald Eagles hosted the annual Lock Haven Qualifier.
The Haven men dominated the field as the Bald Eagles won 12 individual events and recorded first-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay events.
During the meet, Lock Haven celebrated Senior Day 2023 and honored the men's team's lone graduating senior -
Matthew Shimmel (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola).
The Bald Eagles put on a show at home and a number of individuals stood out.
Justice Shoats (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) won the long jump and the high jump with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships qualifying marks of 23-09 and 6-04, respectively.
Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) was also a double-winner for Lock Haven.
The Bald Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the 100-meter dash finals.
Michael Lawrence (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) led the way and won with a PSAC time of 10.96. He ran 10.90 (#PSAC) in the prelims. In the finals, Shoats was second (11.22) and
Jimmy Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) was third 11.29.
Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) won the 110-meter hurdles with a PSAC time of 16.16.
At 200 meters, Lock Haven finished 1-2-3.
Ryan Miller claimed top honors with a time of 22.83 and Lawrence was second (22.85), while
Kylie Scott-Harper (Chester, Pa./Chester) finished third (23.10).
Ryan Miller won the 400-meter dash with an impressive PSAC mark of 48.95. Lock Haven finished first, second and fourth at 400 meters. Scott-Harper was second overall with a PSAC time of 49.96 and
Brennan Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was fourth in 50.65.
Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) won the 400-meter hurdles in a PSAC time of 57.19.
Aydan Summers (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was fourth in the 400mH.
Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) ran well at 800 meters and finished fourth with a time of 1:58.70.
Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney) led a 1-2-3 Haven finish in the mile. Wehrle was first with a time of 4:22.58 and
Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) was second in 4:22.58.
Evan Klinger (Riverside, Pa./Danville) finished third in the mile.
Mason Ochs (Oarmont, Pa./Riverview) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a PSAC time of 10:11.90 and
Colby Petrizzo (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) was second overall.
Nathan Govern (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Nathan Fetchkan (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) finished 1-2 in the hammer throw with PSAC tosses of 166-07 and 156-04, respectively.
Fetchkan also won the shot put with a mark of 39-08.75.
Colton Myers (Boiling Springs, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was third in the shot.
Kevin Taylor (Bellefonte, Pa./Erie County Home Schoolers) won the pole vault with a PSAC mark of 14-00.
Noah Spayd (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) finished second in the 5,000-meter run and
Matthew Muthler (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was second in the discus throw.
Chase Young (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) added a third-place finish in the triple jump.

The Bald Eagles now turn their attention to the postseason and will return to action at the 2023 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 11-13 at Slippery Rock University.
