Field Hockey falls in Atlantic 10 opener at La Salle

The Lock Haven field hockey team opened Atlantic 10 Conference play on Friday afternoon on the road against La Salle University.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven field hockey team (2-4) opened Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) play this afternoon vs. La Salle (5-2) at the Proving Grounds Sports Complex in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The Bald Eagles fell 3-0 on the road.

After a scoreless first half, La Salle broke through to take a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute.
La Salle added insurance goals in the 48th and 51st minutes to round out the scoring.

Neither team found the back of the cage in the first half and it was the Bald Eagle defense that shined. Despite not recording a shot on offense, Lock Haven's defense kept them in the game fighting off 10 La Salle shots and four penalty corner opportunities.

Lock Haven goalkeeper Kelsey Felix (Hallam, Pa./Eastern York) was very strong in cage, finishing with a season-high 11 saves.

Victoria Beiro (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Instituto Dr. Dalmacio Velez Sarsfield) recorded a shot on goal for The Haven.
