TOWSON, Md. – The Lock Haven field hockey team (2-5) fell to Georgetown (1-7), 4-2, Sunday (Sept. 17) afternoon in a non-conference game played at Towson University's Field Hockey Complex.
Constanza Lopez Zabala (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Martin y Omar) and
Alyssa Endrick (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored for the Bald Eagles.
Lock Haven opened the scoring 11:13 into the match when Lopez Zabala put one by the Georgetown goalkeeper.
Brooke Hofsass (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was credited with the assist on the opening goal of the contest, which was created off a penalty corner.
Endrick made it 2-0 in the 14
th minute.
Gracyn Catalano (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) picked up the assist on the Lock Haven's second goal.
Georgetown however scored three times in the second period and led 3-2 at halftime.
Still clinging to the one-goal lead, the Hoyas found an important insurance strike in the 52
nd minute. The fourth-quarter goal gave Vivienne Trumpbour a hat trick.
Lock Haven didn't go away and pressed hard in the final fives minutes of the game. Following a penalty corner, Endrick nearly had her second goal, but her shot was saved, and
Anna May Barbusca (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) had a shot blocked by a defender seconds later.

Lock Haven will return home for Homecoming Weekend 2023 as the Bald Eagles host nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action on Friday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m.
On Friday, the Bald Eagles will honor a coaching legend –
Pat Rudy. On August 7, Coach Rudy announced her retirement. The announcement followed Rudy's remarkable 45-year head coaching career, which included 27 seasons as the head field hockey coach at The Haven, her alma mater ('77). Rudy was just the third head coach in team history since the founding of the Lock Haven field hockey program in 1945. She followed in the footsteps of fellow legends - Charlotte Smith (1945-72) and Sharon Taylor (1973-95). Entering the 2023 season, Rudy's 634 career victories stood as the fifth-most in the history of collegiate field hockey.
