SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven volleyball team (6-4, 1-1 PSAC East) fell to Shippensburg University (11-5, 2-0 PSAC East), 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 19-25, 11-25) in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Friday night (Sept. 29).
After falling in the first set of the match, 25-17, the Bald Eagles bounced back to edge out the Raiders in the second set, 25-23.
However, Shippensburg battled to a 25-19 victory in the third set before putting the match away with a convincing third set.
The Bald Eagle defense provided a valiant effort, totaling 53 digs and four blocks in the match, but the powerful Raiders' offense proved to be too much, as Shippensburg led the march with 60 kills and a 31 successful hit percentage.
Emma Kelly (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) continues her breakout season, leading the offense with 11 kills, while adding nine digs.
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) assisted in a team-high 32 points to pair with six digs and three kills.
Madison Eckley (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) led the defense with 17 digs, while
Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led all players with three blocks.
Natalie Acevedo (Camuy, Puerto Rico/Paula Freire Social Justice Charter School) added 10 digs, seven kills and two aces.
