The Lock Haven field hockey team downed host Colgate 2-1 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Playing on the road for the first time this season, the Lock Haven field hockey team (2-1) downed host Colgate (1-3), 2-1, this afternoon (Sun., Sept. 3) in non-conference action.

With the win, the Bald Eagles improved to 2-1 on the young season.

Constanza Lopez Zabala (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Martin y Omar) and Alexis Kern (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) scored for Lock Haven, and goalkeeper Kelsey Felix (Hallam, Pa./Eastern York) made three saves to power Lock Haven to victory.

Rachel Alderfer put Colgate up 1-0 just 5:34 into the contest, but Lock Haven tied the match before the end of the first quarter.

Lopez Zabala tied the match in the 10th minute. Victoria Beiro (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Instituto Dr. Dalmacio Velez Sarsfield) was credited with an assist on the tally.

Kern scored early in the second quarter off an assist from Elien Bos (Eelde, Netherlands/CSG Augustinus College). Kern's strike proved to be the difference maker and helped Lock Haven earn the road-win.
