WSOC: Bald Eagles play to 1-1 draw at Shepherd

The Bald Eagles lead early but suffered a second-half goal to exit Shepherdstown, West Virginia with a 1-1 tie in conference play on Saturday afternoon.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Lock Haven women's soccer team battled Shepherd University to a 1-1 tie in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday (Sept. 30).

The Haven (1-6-1, 1-5-1 PSAC East) broke a scoreless tie in the 26th minute when Emily Shaw (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) found the back of the net off a helper from Jocelynne Kuhns (Mount Holly/Springs, Pa.) to give the Bald Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Rams connected on the equalizer in the 50th minute to knot the score at 1-1 with 40 minutes to go.

Despite the length of time remaining, both defenses had the last laugh, as neither squad could break the tie.

The Bald Eagles' defense continues to shine, as they fought off a game-high 12 shots and five corners.

Megan Miller (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) made seven saves in net for The Haven, adding a tie to her record.

Swartz, who scored the lone goal for The Haven, lead the offense with three shots on goal.
