SCRANTON, Pa. – Today (Saturday, Sept. 30), the Lock Haven tennis team (3-0) traveled to Scranton (0-2) for its first away matchup of the season and came away with a 5-4 victory.
In No. 1 doubles Mia Shuler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and Olivia Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) came away with the victory over the Royals' Kyleigh McNulty and Brigid O'Mara, 8-2.
The Bald Eagles continued their season dominance in singles matches, winning four of six singles matches today.
At No. 1 singles, Shuler pulled out another victory as she defeated Daniella Wisniewski 6-4, 4-6, with a super breaker score of 10-5, keeping Shuler undefeated at 3-0 for the season.
At No. 2, Anastos earned her second singles victory of the season as she took down Kyleigh McNulty 6-2, 3-1, with the match ending in a default.
Claire Long (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) took down Taralynn Reilly 6-2, 7-6(3) at No. 5, earning the freshman her first singles victory of the season.
Fellow freshman, Alaina Marchioni (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), earned her first singles victory of the season and as a Bald Eagle as she took down Maddie Abood 6-4, 6-4.
