STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –
Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and
Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) broke the Lock Haven men's indoor track and field 1000-meter run record to headline the Bald Eagles at the Fastrack Last Chance Invite on Friday afternoon (Feb. 23).
Furey and Wehrle broke Cory Spidell's 16-year old record of 2:29.09 by finishing in 2:27.86 and 2:27.94, respectively. Furey now owns the top time in program history with Wehrle claiming the No. 2 spot.
Kwame Whitaker (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) and
Lorenzo Thompson (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) led the Bald Eagles in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 23.31 and 24.09 to place 15
th and 17
th, respectively.
Whitaker, who already owns the program's long jump record as a freshman, notched a mark of 20-10 to place ninth in the event on Saturday.
Jakob Rager (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown Area) ran a personal-best in the mile with a time of 4:21.28 to place 13
th of 59.
Alexander McFalls (Lancaster, Pa./Garden Spot) placed 10
th in the 500-meter run with a finish of 1:13.44.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Furey, Rager, Wehrle and
Kirk Stewart (South Park, Pa./South Park) placed eighth with a time of 3:32.94.

Qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships will travel to Pittsburg State on Friday, March 8.
The Bald Eagles open the outdoor track & field season on Thursday, March 14 when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to compete in the three-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
