Justice Shoats scores big in long jump and high jump; Bald Eagles headline prelims and push number of individuals into Sunday finals as Haven preps for big finish at PSAC Championship

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.Justice Shoats (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) turned in a pair of All-Conference performances as he led the way for the Lock Haven men's outdoor track and field team Saturday (May 4) on the second day of competition at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
 
Shoats was one of several individuals who stood out for the Bald Eagles as he scored big in the long jump and the high jump while putting big team points on the board for The Haven.
 
Shoats placed second in the long jump (23-00.75) and he finished third in the high jump (6-04.75). By way of the top-three finishes, Shoats earns the distinction of an All-Conference honoree.
 
Kwame Whitaker Jr. (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) scored for Lock Haven as he tied for eighth in the long jump (22-01.00).
 
In the 4x100-meter relay, Lock Haven qualified fifth for Sunday's finals.
 
Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) turned in a huge day individually. He ran 48.70, the top time in today's 400-meter prelims and he also ran 22.09 to qualify seventh for tomorrow's finals at 200 meters.
 
Josiah Schans (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the way in the hurdles. Schans ran 15.08 qualified sixth for Sunday's finals in the 110-meter hurdles. Reindard qualified fourth for tomorrow's 400-meter hurdle finals with a time of 54.67.
 
Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) both advanced to tomorrow's finals at 800 meters. Gavitt ran 1:55.68 today and was seventh in the prelims, while Furey ran 1:56.20 and was eighth in the prelim round today.
 
The 2024 PSAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship will wrap up tomorrow (Sunday, May 5) with Day 3 action at Shippensburg University. Field events on Championship-Sunday are set for an 11 a.m. start and the first track event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.
