SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's basketball team traveled to Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania to compete on day one of the Atlantic Region Challenge on Friday night. The Bald Eagles fell in their season opener to Davis & Elkins, 95-72.
For Lock Haven,
Dyllon Scott finished with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double in 25 minutes off the bench.
Dean Coleman-Newsome led five Bald Eagles in double figures with a team-high 16 points.
Blake Deegan filled up the box score with 11 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals, while
Keith Warren added 13 points.
Devon Nelson chipped in 12 points and teamed up with Scott to provide a spark from the second unit.
Davis & Elkins shot 49 percent (34-of-70) from the floor and used a balanced scoring effort, which featured six players in double figures, to secure the victory.
Lock Haven cut a 16-point second half deficit to eight with 10 minutes to go following a
Mike Knouse trifecta, but the Senators responded with a 9-1 run to ultimately put the game out of reach.
Davis & Elkins' Vegas Evans led all scorers with 27 points.

The Bald Eagles return to Slippery Rock University for the final day of the Atlantic Region Challenge tomorrow afternoon and will take on West Virginia Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
