Five Lock Haven men’s Wrestlers nationally ranked; Bald Eagles set for big weekend in Bethlehem

Strickland, Henson, Stampoulous, Bassett and Hogan all nationally-ranked; Bald Eagles set for jam-packed weekend in Bethlehem

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Five members of the Lock Haven men's wrestling team are nationally ranked in the latest InterMat National Rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
 
No. 21 Strickland (133), No. 29 Henson (141), No. 30 Bassett (174) and No. 31 Hogan (131) opened the season nationally ranked at their respective weight classes, while Stampoulous (157) jumped into the rankings after the opening weekend.
 
The Bald Eagles are fresh off their season opener, where they competed in the Princeton Open (full results) and secured eight placewinners, led by a third-place finish by Lucas Kapusta at 149 pounds.
 
Kapusta won bronze at 149 pounds after racking up four wins, including a tech fall, to headline the day. 
 
Strickland, Stampoulous and Basset all won five matches at their respective weight classes in the opening tournament, while Henson added a fourth-place finish at 141 pounds after starting the day 2-0.
 
The Haven is set for its first two dual meets of the season and will take on Long Island University and Indiana University on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at Liberty High School.
 
On Sunday, the Bald Eagles will compete in the all-day Journeymen Classic (Tournament), hosted at Freedom High School.
 
In the MAC Preseason Poll (October 30) the reigning-champion Bald Eagles were chosen to finish third, after bringing home the crown in three of the past four seasons. To view the full list of MAC preseason individual rankings, click here.
