Men’s Basketball soars past Bloomsburg, 83-63

The postseason-bound Lock Haven men’s basketball team took down Bloomsburg at home on Wednesday night

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Wednesday, Feb. 26) – The Lock Haven men's basketball scored 45 bench points as the Bald Eagles soared to a decisive 83-63 victory over Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division showdown inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
With the victory, Lock Haven improves to 14-12 overall and 11-9 in the PSAC. The Bald Eagles have secured a berth to the 2024-25 PSAC Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will open the PSAC Championship Tournament on the road on Monday night.
 
Lock Haven will have the chance to reach the PSAC Quarterfinals for the third straight season. Ticket and coverage links will be released by the conference office in the coming days.
 
Senior Isaiah Stewart had a monster first half and finished with 17 points after shooting 63 percent from the three with five rebounds, three assists and one steal.
 
On the glass, Kevin Coleman grabbed a game-high nine rebounds with seven coming on the offensive end. Coleman added ten points and three blocks.
 
Eli Washington chipped in 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
 
Gabe Springer and LaQuan Byrd were key off the bench as Springer finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, while LaQuan Byrd ended with 14 points and five rebounds.
 
Idris Ali rounded out the trio of second-unit stars and finished with eight points and four assists.
 
Lock Haven took the lead at the 13-minute mark in the first half and never trailed from there as they built a 35-25 advantage through the opening 20 minutes.
 
The Bald Eagles opened the second half on an 11-4 run, powered by its defensive effort, which held the Huskies to under 40 percent shooting in the game.
 
The second unit took over from there and the Bald Eagles led by as much as 26 in the second half.
The Bald Eagles recorded game-highs in fast break points and 3-pointers, while holding a massive 46-33 rebound advantage.
 
Lock Haven earned the season sweep (2-0) over Bloomsburg.

The Bald Eagles will conclude the 2024-25 regular season on Saturday (March 1) at 3 p.m. by visiting East Stroudsburg.
