Evans sets program record, Women’s Basketball hosts Bloomsburg on Senior Day

The Bald Eagles hosted PSAC East foe Bloomsburg on Senior Day on Wednesday night

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Wednesday, Feb. 26) – Madeline Evans broke the Lock Haven women's basketball's program record for offensive rebounds in a single-season during the Bald Eagles senior day showdown with visiting Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division battle on Wednesday. The Bald Eagles erased a 10-point second-half deficit, but Bloomsburg regrouped to exit Thomas Fieldhouse with a 65-51 victory.
 
With her third offensive rebound of the game and 113th on the season, Evans broke Jaynelle Robinson's previous record set in 2020-21.
 
Evan's finished with nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end, and now has 119 on the season. The sophomore added eight points and two blocks.
 
Jenadia Jordan led the Bald Eagles in points with 11, while Rhlyn Rouse rounded out the group in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds.
 
Alana Robinson grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and finished with four steals.
 
The Bald Eagles move to 18-8 overall and 13-7 in the PSAC. Lock Haven remains in a tie for first-place with Kutztown with one game remaining in the season. The Haven can fall no further than the No. 2 spot in the East. Bloomsburg improves to 17-11 overall and 11-10 in conference.
 
Prior to tonight's game, the Bald Eagles honored seniors Kiera Baughman, Adaliz Corbin and Olivia Smith for their contribution and dedication throughout their careers.
 
The Huskies shot a scorching 65 percent from the field in the first half to carry a 33-22 lead into the break.
 
However, Lock Haven went on a 15-3 run through the opening five minutes of the third quarter to take its first lead since early in the first quarter, 37-35. The Haven made 5-of-7 shots during the run and Baughman netted seven points.
 
Bloomsburg responded by outscoring Lock Haven, 5-2, to regain the lead 40-37 heading into the fourth.
 
The Huskies carried the momentum into the final period and outscored The Haven 15-4 through the opening five minutes to pull away.
 
Lock Haven has clinched a first-round bye in the 2024-25 PSAC Women's Basketball Championships and will host the Quarterfinal round inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday (March 5) at 6:30 p.m. inside Thomas Fieldhouse. Lock Haven will host the winner of the Eastern Division's No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup set for Monday (March 3).
