Baseball secures weekend sweep over Fairmont State, wins 7-1

The Bald Eagles continue to soar high to start 2025 and won their second straight game; Coach Smoke earns 100th career victory at The Haven

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (Saturday, March 1) – The Lock Haven baseball team's run of quality pitching and timely hitting continued this afternoon as the Bald Eagles took down Fairmont State 7-1 in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Haven swept the Fighting Falcons on the weekend.
 
Lock Haven improves to 8-2 on the year and 2-0 on the weekend. The Bald Eagles defeated Fairmont State 9-1 yesterday.

Head Coach Heath Stover secured his 100th victory in his Bald Eagle coaching career.
 
On Monday (Feb. 24), the Bald Eagles were announced as the No. 10 team in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region poll.
 
The Bald Eagles have given up fewer than two runs and scored six or more runs in six games.
 
Lock Haven starting pitcher Garrett Starr improved to 3-0 on the season after tossing six-complete innings without allowing a run and adding four strikeouts. Kevin Grenninger pitched the final three innings and allowed one run with three strikeouts.
 
Nathan Wise (2-for-5), Morgen Billotte (2-for-4) and Connor Griffin (2-for-4) all finished with multiple hits for The Haven.
 
Bryce Vincent (HR) and Jaxson Pupo drove in two runs each and Ethan Nagy secured an RBI double.
 
Vincent homered for the first time as a Bald Eagle in the top of the first inning.
 
Lock Haven continues to use explosive innings to produce runs and put up a five spot in the top of the third to build an early 6-0 advantage.
 
Fairmont State scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bald Eagles immediately erased it with a solo run during their next at-bats.
 
Next up for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles conclude their weekend in Morgantown by taking on Hillsdale College in a non-conference single-nine inning contest at 11 a.m. at Mylan Park.
