ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven baseball team (15-29, 5-18 PSAC West) concluded its four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West series vs. Gannon (20-23, 12-12 PSAC West) by traveling to the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon. The Bald Eagles fell in the doubleheader 14-6 and 21-1.
Game 1 Recap: Gannon 14, Lock Haven 6
In game one, the Bald Eagles' offense put up a strong effort with six runs on 12 hits, but Gannon scored 14 runs – powered by a seven run second inning – en route to a 14-6 victory.
The Haven rallied for five runs over the fourth and fifth innings during the comeback effort, but Gannon responded with a four-run bottom of the fifth to put the game away.
Robert Furino powered The Haven on offense and finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI.
Zachary McEllroy led the club in RBIs as he plated three runs, including a 2-RBI double.
Tom Rohan and
Lance Baldensperger also recorded multiple hits, while Rohan added a double and run scored.
On the mound,
Zach Griffin led the way with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief out of the bullpen.
Game 2 Recap: Gannon 21, Lock Haven 1
In the nightcap, the Gannon bats stayed red hot and put up 21 runs on 16 hits to secure the sweep.
Lock Haven scored in the top of the sixth off a solo home run by
Nick White.
The Haven finished with five base knocks in the contest, led by the homer from White and a 2-for-3 ame from
Kaden Rodarmel.
The Bald Eagles sent five pitchers to the mound and were led by a scoreless inning in relief from
Jace Szaflarski.
