Field Hockey wraps up opening weekend by visiting Colgate

The Bald Eagles wrapped up their weekend road trip in New York to open the 2025 season by visiting Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lock Haven field hockey team wrapped up its season-opening weekend on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 31) by traveling to Colgate for a non-conference battle. Colgate edged out the Bald Eagles, 5-3.

Melanie Beall opened the scoring for Lock Haven (0-2) in the third period with her first goal of the season, but Colgate (1-1) carried a 3-1 lead into the break.

After a scoreless seven minutes to open the second half, Beall found the back of the cage with her second goal to cut The Haven's deficit to 3-2.

The two schools traded goals to end the third and Colgate led 4-3 with one quarter to go. Kendall Siegle scored the Bald Eagles' third goal of the contest during the period.

However, Colgate scored an insurance goal in the fourth before burning out the clock to secure the victory.

Kelsey Felix made eight stops in cage for The Haven, while Beall led the offense with four shots.

The Bald Eagles remain on the road and will travel to Towson for a non-conference game at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
