BUCKHANNON, W.Va – The Lock Haven volleyball team started its weekend at the WVWC Tournament, hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan with a non-conference matchup against Belmont Abbey on Friday night (Sept. 12). The Bald Eagles fell 3-1 (25-22, 21-25,23-25,15-25).
 
The Bald Eagles (0-4 overall) had a strong start to the match, winning the first set 25-22.
 
The Haven then narrowly lost its next two sets with scores of (21-25, 23-25) before dropping the final set (15-25).
 
Maddie Mitchell continues a strong start to her freshman campaign with 18 kills and 13 digs.
 
Gracelynn Wolzen added eight kills.
 
Madelyn Wagner notched 29 assists and Olivia Taylor held down the defense with 26 digs.
 
NEXT UP
Lock Haven will return for day two of the WVWC Tournament Saturday morning (Sept. 13) and will take on Virginia Union at 10 a.m. and host West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
