MUNCIE, Ind. – Madison Friend knotted the game at one in the third period and the Lock Haven field hockey team forced overtime, but Ball State scored the game-winning goal in the extra period in a non-conference game on Sunday, Sept. 14.
After a scoreless first half, Ball State struck first to go up 1-0 in the 31
st minute.
However, Friend found the back of the cage 12 minutes later for the equalizing goal off an assist from
Molly Lynch.
The goal was the second and team-leading for Friend on the season.
Neither team could seal the win in the fourth quarter, but Ball State scored the clincher in overtime to steal the victory at home.
Lock Haven keeper
Kelsey Felix was a huge factor in forcing overtime, as she held Ball State to just one goal in regulation, while finishing with a game-high 13 saves.
On offense, The Haven finished with eight shots on goal, led by three from
Melanie Beall and two each from Friend and
Brynlee Pinschenat.
